South End Community Centre

In recent weeks, Council has definitely identified a South End Community Centre as an important major project to be supported. This will be an expensive project which will require voter approval for long-term borrowing. There had been a recommendation that the voter approval be done through an Alternate Approval Process. At Monday's meeting I suggested that I would not support this. The costs of the project are not yet established. I do support building a South End Community Centre, but feel that committing to an AAP process was not appropriate. I would much prefer having this issue go to a public referendum. My concerns resulted in having the discussion deferred to a future GPC meeting for more careful consideration regarding choosing AAP or Referendum.
