On the evening of Wednesday, April 3, 2024, the City of Nanaimo hosted its annual Culture Awards ceremony at the Port Theatre, celebrating the best of our city's Arts and Culture. It was my pleasure to emcee the program and to introduce this year's award winners to the audience. Three main awards were presented. First came the Emerging Cultural Leader, presented this year to young Highland dancer Annalise Lam. Then came the Honour in Culture Award, which went to Sukhi Sangha, founder of Vancouver Island Bhangra. And the third award was the Excellence in Culture presentation to well-known Nanaimo musician Paul Gogo. Congratulations to the three very deserving winners, and also the the entertainers and organizers who helped make the evening a success.
