On the evening of Tuesday, April 25, it was my pleasure to emcee the City of Nanaimo Culture Awards at the Port Theatre. It was actually the first time that the event was held "live" in three years. Due to Covid, award winners from 2020, 2021, and 2022 were recognized virtually by the City. But this year it was great to have a live audience and to be able to celebrate in person. My special congratulations to the 2023 winners: Joel Good, winner of the Excellence in Culture Award, and Margot Holmes, winner of the Honour in Culture Award. My thanks to the crew of Nanaimo City Parks and Recreation staff who worked hard to organize the celebration, to the entertainers who performed during the evening, and to the Port Theatre staff for their assistance. It was a fun evening!
