At the end of April, Brechin United Church held a long-awaited grand opening of its exciting church and affordable housing development at the church site on Estevan Road. Along with Mayor Krog and Councillor Perrino, I was pleased to attend the opening and to congratulate those who saw the challenging project through to conclusion. The old church was demolished in 2018, with a vision to create a new smaller church together with an affordable apartment building. There were obstacles to overcome, but it is now a reality: a beautiful new place of worship along with 74 affordable rental apartment units. Many people deserve credit, such as the developer and the church community, including development team co-chairs Valerie Neilson and Randy Manikel. A great addition to our community!
